Maersk and MSC are adjusting their Asia–Europe sailing schedules because of persistent congestion in northern Europe. The M2 alliance hopes the changes will reduce delays and disruption. Busy ports such as Rotterdam are being omitted from some services. According to Port Congestion Watch, Rotterdam is currently among the busiest ports in the world. At the beginning of August, eleven vessels with a combined capacity of 95,000 TEU were waiting at anchor.
