China celebrates Golden Week from 1 to 7 October each year to mark the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The week includes flag ceremonies, fireworks, military parades and sporting events.
Many people travel to visit family, placing considerable pressure on Chinese infrastructure. Offices, factories and government departments close during this period, which has a substantial effect on logistics. Port facilities remain operational, but at reduced capacity. Logistics activity gradually resumes after 7 October, although it does not return to full strength immediately.
