Traffic through the Suez Canal is gradually recovering after the Houthis announced an end to their attacks in the Red Sea. Conditions in the region appear to be stabilising, and international shipping lines are cautiously returning to their regular routes.
The first container ships are now using the Suez Canal again, including the CMA CGM Benjamin Franklin. This marks an important milestone after many carriers spent the past two years rerouting around the Cape of Good Hope. That alternative added significant transit time and logistics costs.
The route’s reopening is therefore welcome news not only for the maritime sector, but also for global trade and supply chains that depend on fast, reliable flows.
